quilting a quilt

So when I said tomorrow I meant Monday. Now that we got that out of the way, this weekend I was pretty bored on Sunday and wondering what I could do. I then remembered that I promised my sister I would make Melah's quilt that matched her bedding. My mother in law tackled the challenge of making the bumper and skirt, which turned out awesome and I decided that I could make the quilt to match.

Why did I have so much confidence you ask, well my mother in law and I made the same quilt for Ridge while we all waited for him to arrive, which he finally did 4 days late only because he was induced. Did I tell you that he was 10lbs. 3.5 oz when he was born?

Anyways, one of my favorite textile designers, Amy Butler, has this great book for creating delightful little creations for your tot. It's called Amy Butler's little stitches for little ones ( cover is pictured above). It has everything from diaper bags to changing table covers. So if you are feeling like you need to be a sewing diva get this book, its awesome!

Melah's quilt is a work in progress because I don't have the right thread for the job. Here is the documentation so far...

My mess on our dining room table. I think I also forgot to mention that the book is with my mother in law so I made a chart from Ridge's quilt to figure out how it all comes together. I hope it does!

So this is where I stopped. Everything is cut and ready to sew! Now I just need some thread.

Here is the final result, well for Ridge's quilt! My sister wants Melah's to have a ruffle around the edges so that is going to be a big difference and its going to be hot pink with an awesome black pattern... my sister loves hot pink!
